Professor Park Jung-chul from
Yonsei University College of Dentistry awarded André Schroeder Prize.
Professor Park Jung-chul of Yonsei University’s Department of Periodontology has been selected as the recipient of the 18th André Schroeder Research Prize.
During the International Team for Implantology (ITI) congress held in Chicago on the 6th, ITI named Professor Park Jung-chul of Yonsei University as this year’s André Schroeder Research Prize winner. Professor Park, along with the research team led by Professor Kim Chang-sung of the Department of Periodontology at Yonsei University, conducted a study titled “Acquisition of human alveolar bone-derived stromal cells
using minimally irrigated implant osteotomy: in vitro and in vivo evaluation.” In this research, the team presented a paper evaluating the bone differentiation ability of periodontal stem cells obtained from bone fragments that can be extracted from within the drill during bone removal in the establishment of implants.
Professor Park Jung-chul expressed his gratitude for receiving the award, stating, “This research addresses the process of directly applying stem cells, which have garnered significant interest in the medical and dental fields, to clinical use.” He added, “I am pleased to contribute to unraveling the clues for how to collect stem cells for their clinical application.”
The André Schroeder Research Prize, awarded to Professor Park Jung-chul, is an annual recognition presented with a prize of 20,000 Swiss Francs to a dentist who has demonstrated various clinical research and activities in the field of implant dentistry.
